From Hunger to Hope

Gauri, just 1.5 years old, and her 7-year-old sister Pratiksha were found in desperate conditions — malnourished, without stable shelter, and with no access to healthcare or education.

SNEH's community workers identified the sisters during an outreach assessment. Gauri was severely underweight and showing signs of acute malnutrition. Pratiksha had never attended school.

Working with the Child Welfare Committee, both girls were placed in institutional care where they now receive regular nutrition, medical attention, and educational support. Gauri has been recovering steadily with supplementary feeding and paediatric monitoring.

Their story represents the reality many children face in urban slums — and the difference that early identification and institutional support can make in breaking the cycle of deprivation.
