From Silence to Strength

Nagmin, an 11-year-old girl from the Kalakhadak slum near Wakad, was one of the quietest children at SNEH Project Gyan. She rarely spoke, avoided group activities, and seemed withdrawn from the world around her.

The SNEH team noticed her keen interest in drawing and encouraged her to explore Mehandi design as a creative outlet. With gentle support and consistent encouragement, Nagmin began to open up. She spent hours practising intricate patterns, and her talent became evident to everyone around her.

When she entered a local Mehandi competition, no one expected much — but Nagmin won second place. The recognition transformed her. She began speaking more confidently, participating in group activities, and even started teaching younger children basic Mehandi designs.

Today, Nagmin is pursuing a Mehandi teaching course and dreams of starting her own small business. From a girl who could barely make eye contact, she has become a confident young artist contributing to her community.
