Timely Support Can Change Lives

Ms. Suman Danane was identified under Project Vatsalya during her pregnancy. She comes from a low-income family where her husband works as a daily wage labourer, and she was already a mother of two. Limited finances and irregular healthcare access placed her pregnancy at high risk.

During routine follow-ups, Suman was found to be anaemic with low blood pressure. In her ninth month, she was further diagnosed with oligohydramnios — a condition involving dangerously low amniotic fluid.

The project team provided continuous counselling, nutrition support, and medical monitoring through a panel gynaecologist. As her delivery date neared, she experienced complications and was immediately referred to a government hospital.

Suman received timely medical care and safely delivered a healthy baby weighing 3 kg. After delivery, Project Vatsalya supported her tubectomy recovery by covering medicine costs. Both mother and child are doing well.

Suman's story shows how early identification, consistent follow-up, and timely referral can make a life-saving difference for mothers and children in vulnerable communities.
