Mothers Who Became Entrepreneurs

SNEH Foundation had always believed that the mothers of its preschool children held untapped potential. Despite their circumstances, these women were resourceful, capable, and eager to contribute to their families.

A single meeting was enough to inspire action. Mothers were trained in creating handmade products — paper bags, diyas (oil lamps), and rakhis (traditional bracelets). The programme combined skill development with an income generation model where profits from sales were shared among participants.

After rigorous training and consistent effort, the results surpassed expectations. The handmade products attracted strong demand from corporate companies, proving that quality and craftsmanship need not be limited to privileged hands.

The Women Empowerment initiative is now one of SNEH’s most celebrated programmes — not just for the income it generates, but for the confidence and dignity it restores to women who had long been overlooked.
